Simon C. DAVIS, an old and respected citizen of the county died at his home on Perry Street in this city at 9:30 o'clock Thursday night of old age. The deceased was born in Tazewell Co VA Aug 14, 1807 and removed to Montgomery County in 1830, settling in Brown Township residing on a farm until 1867 when he removed to Waveland and has since lived a retired life. He removed to Crawfordsville several years ago, purchasing property on Perry Street. Mr. Davis united with the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in 1840, and has remained a consistent member of that organization since. In 1840 he was Revenue Collector for Montgomery County and filled the office of Justice of the peace for 16 years. He has been twice married in 1825 to rebecca Bryant of VA who died in 1867. He was married again in 1872 to Mrs. Ann E. Galey formerly a Miss Shrader. He leaves six children by his first wife. The funeral will take place on Sunday interment at Freedom Cemetery Services by Elder Cuppy - kbz
